How it works
Hands really do know more
LEGO® Serious Play® is a strategic tool that makes thoughts tangible and communication more effective and more honest.

The core of the method
We don’t just talk about ideas. We build them.
- 01
Everyone builds
All participants answer the same question with a model of their own — there are no passive observers.
- 02
Everyone explains
The meaning of a model comes from the person who built it, so perspectives that often go unspoken get heard.
- 03
The team connects
Individual insights become a shared picture that makes it easier for the team to choose priorities and next moves.
Why do bricks change the conversation?
The LEGO® Serious Play® method was created about 20 years ago out of a need within the LEGO company itself, which found itself unable to solve the problems and challenges it faced. The way of thinking that had led it into those problems could not solve them, so the company turned to the best tool it had – the bricks.
Bricks encourage thinking through the hands: participants build their ideas, give them meaning and then share them with the group. That way, abstract topics become visible and easier to understand together.
Since the LEGO company introduced it, the method has found its place across the business world in many areas: from strategic planning, improving company culture, removing noise from communication, resolving conflicts between teams, developing products and services, creating campaigns, developing departments and education, all the way to solving the everyday challenges companies face but can never quite find a solution for.
